The cultural life of small settlements depended significantly on the ecclesiastical and secular connections of the lower clergy. Local representatives of the church and ecclesiastical dignitaries could guide and influence the thinking of the population in many ways. They could influence their religious and even political views, and even affect their everyday lives. In our case, we will try to gain insight into the everyday cultural life of simple churchgoers in a small settlement, excluding ceremonies and official relations. We will consider how they educated themselves. We may gain insight into their lives, but not a complete answer.
