The study deals with a short period, the years during World War I, in the life of Henrik Marczali (1856–1940), one of the most influential Hungarian historians of the 19th and 20th centuries. The focus of the investigation is a critical review of the historian’s involvement in the war, through the presentation of his major writings of the period.
