The news of Cardinal József Mindszenty’s died on May 6, 1975 spread like wildfire around the world. For Hungarian state security officers it meant another task. They had to document when and where the cardinal’s funeral would take place, who would attend and give a speech of mourning on behalf of the church. Also, what new challenges it brings to the leadership of the party state and the political police they control.
