Abstract

The study provides so far unknown information to the history of the
Saint Anna Chapel in Süly (a village in Pozsony county, today Sulany
in Slovakia). According to previous literature, the chapel was built
in the 14th century, however its foundation charter was issued only
two centuries later, on 30th July 1521. King Ulászló II donated the
village to his chamberer Istvan Acel from Erdöskereki, a noble man
from Zaránd county, around 1504, who made here in the next decade his residence and probably at the end of 1514 became the castellan of Pozsony castle. He is also the founder of the chapel in question and its construction took place presumably during 1521.
