“Jewish (champion) team,”
During the Anti-Jewish laws?

In this paper, I seek to answer the following questions: 1. How could the Weiss Manfréd Football Club (hereinafter: WMFC) of Csepel win the Hungarian championship twice (!) in a row, in 1941–42 and 1942–43, during the Second World War, when the Anti-Jewish laws were in force? Related to this: how could have the Csepel football team played a championship match at the Adolf Hitler Sports Complex in Novi Sad 6 days before the German invasion of Hungary on 13 March 1944? 2. Was the Csepel football club considered a “Jewish team” during this period, and was it victim to anti-Semitic attacks – especially when compared to other “Jewish” (or perceived as Jewish) teams?
