Abstract

Papal-Hungarian relations in the first half of the 14th century have not been the focus of much research so far. This has changed with the launch of a new book, published in 2020 as part of the DeLegatOnline Könyvek [DeLegatOnline Books] series. The monograph is based on Ágnes Maléth’s doctoral dissertation defended in 2017, which has since undergone a significant transformation in both its content and structure. Maléth’s book provides an in-depth analysis of Charles I’s relations with the Holy See, and a broadly thematic approach based on identifying the representatives who had a decisive role in the relations between the Avignon Curia and the Hungarian royal court, outlining the contemporary focal points of the relations between the papacy and the Kingdom of Hungary.
