Antal Miskei, Eszterhazy Karoly Catholic University https://ror.org/004gfgx38

+Antal Miskei was born on 22 December 1967 in Budapest. His Roman Catholic faith and commitment is evidenced by the fact that he completed his secondary education at the Benedictine High School in Pannonhalma. After passing his school-leaving examination, he was a student of History - Latin Language and Literature at the Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen between 1986 and 1992. Between 1994 and 1997 he was a student of Professor István Rácz, PhD student in Debrecen. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1997 in the framework of the sub-programme "Research on the History of Regions in Hungary in the 16th - 18th centuries".

Since 2004, he has been a full-time lecturer at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University and its predecessor institutions, first as an adjunct professor, and then as an associate professor from 2008. In the last 20 years he has taught all periods of medieval and early modern Hungarian history, taught numerous foundation courses and participated in the work of the Doctoral School of History with his characteristic thoroughness.

The history of the island of Csepel, and within it its narrower suburb, Ráckeve, was the focus of his scientific interest. In 2014 he habilitated at the Eszterházy Károly College in Eger. The title of his habilitation thesis was The Island of Csepel and Ráckeve as a Royal and Sultanic Estate, which was published in book form in 2015. His wide-ranging interests are demonstrated by the fact that, in addition to his teaching and research duties, his close attention to Latin text editing has also extended to the 18th century series of Old Hungarian Dramatic Memoirs.

He has edited the periodical of the Institute of History of Eszterházy Károly College, Acta Academiae Agriensis Sectio Historia, and since 2013 he has been editor-in-chief of the student journal Historia Nostra.

His work has been recognised by his home town with the Pro Urbe Award of Ráckeve in 2008 and his workplace with the Eszterházy Károly Memorial Medal in 2019.
